What is that familiar sound? It is a quack, is it the Duck?
A wiggle and a waddle from the bench to the pond you can follow me little Rana, as we waddle along. I go quack quack quack! and if you listen you can hear croaking, your family are near. Croaking and singing together with a splash and a jump come quick and see. Little Rana you need a froggy hug.
Duck wait Stop please, tell me, am I like you?
no no no you are a frog Rana that is what you are. You are rather smelly if I must say, not like me I am clean and preen myself at least five times a day. Frogs like the mud and you think flies and insects are yum yum. No no no! you are not like me. I fly away for the winter and migrate over the sea. You like to stay close to the same pond and hibernate, come on now it’s getting late. It is far too cold for me, even with feathers, so soon I will fly to the heat of the sun. Look little frog there they are, remember frogs never jump too far.
Hip hip hooray I am finally home. I am a frog named Rana and this pond is my home. At Dane Bank Green Space, I will never feel alone. Come and visit when ever you like, it is a place for wildlife, by day and night.
