Our New Butterfly Garden at Dane Bank Green Space

We’re delighted to introduce the Butterfly Garden, a beautiful new feature created to support pollinators and bring even more colour and life to Dane Bank Green Space.

The raised bed was built using railway sleepers generously donated by Network Rail, helping us create a strong, sustainable structure that will support wildlife‑friendly planting for years to come. The garden is designed to attract butterflies, bees and other vital pollinators by providing nectar-rich plants and a sheltered spot where they can thrive.

Community and Schools Helping Nature Grow

Each autumn, we invite local schoolchildren to help plant spring‑flowering bulbs in and around the Butterfly Garden. This hands‑on activity not only supports biodiversity but also gives young people a chance to learn about nature, wildlife and the importance of protecting green spaces.

Their contributions bring a wonderful burst of colour each spring and help make the Butterfly Garden a space created by the community, for the community.

The Butterfly Garden is a small but meaningful step in our ongoing commitment to improving local biodiversity, supporting pollinators and creating a welcoming green space for everyone to enjoy.
